Running an example application on Windows
TouchGFX has a lot of UI examples available in the Designer. The examples can help you learn more about TouchGFX. You can use the examples as starting points for your own projects, but you can also use them as references.
Start a new project in the TouchGFX Designer. Click the "Change" button in the "UI Template" section:
Selecting an UI Template
The TouchGFX Designer will now show you a window with the available UI examples. Click the "Matching UI Template" tab and select an example. Here we select the AnimatedImage example. Click the blue "Select" button in the bottom when you have selected.
Selecting AnimatedImage example
After you have clicked "Select", the TouchGFX Designer is ready to create a project for you. Here we have given the project the name "MyAnimatedImageExample".
Creating the project
Click "Create" to create the project. The TouchGFX Designer will now combine the UI Template you selected with the default Application Template to create a complete project. This process can last up to 10-20 seconds, as the Templates are downloaded from one of ST's servers.
In the next step of this tutorial we will see how to select another Application Template.
The TouchGFX Designer is now showing the combined project. To run the Windows simulator, click the "Run Simulator" button in the upper right part.
The project is ready
The Windows simulator is showing up as a normal Windows application. The titlebar shows the application name.

The other available examples can be tried in the same way.
In the next step we will run the same example on an STM32 discovery board.
